Smart Phone Issue......Samsung Galaxy S5

Hi,

I had an LG Optimus Showtime with a StraightTalk provider, $50/month unlimited talk/text/3 Gigs data.  The quality wasn't very good, but at least I had communication, GPS, etc. and I knew what to expect for charges at the end of the month.

I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S5 with Verizon, $60/month, unlimited talk,text/1 Gig data. I have 2 problems with this phone. I thought the camera was supposed to have a green circle appear when in focus. According to what I've read on the internet, lack of this green circle means the camera is a dud and should be replaced. I ran back to the store today, and spoke to the man who sold it to me. He installed the latest updates, and said that according to the latest update, the white circle that appears is for the focus, and that the green circle is no longer valid. I don't know what to believe. That's one problem.

Secondly, I've only had the phone 10 days, and I only downloaded 2 apps, spent about 1 hour online. I checked my data usage, and I've already used 30% of my 1 Gig. I had the salesman shut off any apps running in the background that could be eating up data. He said he could think of no reason for such a data "spike". Have I been scammed?  I shut off all data and have to turn it on BEFORE I connect online.

Please advise, and tell me what you would do. Hopefully, one of the experts has the same phone and can compare. Thanks in advance.
