"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

As mentioned in this page from Microsoft https://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true ,  only basic services are available in Safe Mode.  Many things are not supported in Safe Mode.

When you are in safe mode the operating system restricts you in what you can access and what it will allow to run.

What is it you are trying to run in safe mode and more importantly WHY?
