Exchange 2010 - moved mailbox shows as Linked Mailbox instead of User Mailbox

We are in the process of migrating a customer from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. I am using the Local Move Request option to move mailboxes, and whilst most have gone across as expected, one mailbox looks odd.

Instead of showing "User Mailbox" it is showing "Linked Mailbox".

What has gone wrong here? There's nothing special about this user at all.

It is a permission on the account that needs to be removed.
I blogged on it five years ago, so nothing new.

I have not see this type of behavior due to migrating mailboxes. However you can convert a Linked Mailbox to a User Mailbox using the Shell. Follow the steps below at the link provided.

Thanks again Simon. I moved the mailbox back to the original server, removed the tick from the Associated External Account for that user and then was able to successfully move the mailbox to the new server.
