Clear system volume information in server 2012

Hi,

I ran a scan on my server and saw that the system volume information folder was eating all of my space. I don't have VSS turned on I believe these files are vss items that don't get cleared after backup the server every night.

How does one clear the items in this folder ?

Thank You !

vssadmin list shadowstorage

vssadmin list shadows

vssadmin delete shadows /for=C: /shadow=ID
Instead of C: you can specify another volume if i is the case. ID is one list gives.

You can also limit the space used by VSS on backup, but beware: minimum 300MB are required and depending on backup size, if it is too small, errors can occurs. Also shadows will be deleted as retained shadows to fit the new maxsize. I am assuming that you have unlimited size of shadowstorage for now!

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /for=C: /on=C: /maxsize=100GB

Best regards!

In my case the VSS shadow copies had to be activated on the server for everything to be flushed. These commands worked after flushing the folder.
