HP EliteBook with Windows 8 pro

Hi,

I have an EliteBook 820 from HP. My friend had create a username which I don't have and she had also set up a bitlocker on this netbook.

I would like to reset and reinstall Windows 8 pro on it. I know it comes pre-installed but I don't know how to reinstall windows 8.

Could you help me?

Thanks,

Eduardo.

if you don't know the bitlocker password then you may not have much luck.

You might have to just format the drive completely and reinstall windows on it.

have a read here, this may help you out >>> http://superuser.com/questions/408809/how-to-format-a-drive-encrypted-with-bitlocker

if you have the bitlocker password then follow the procedure listed here >> https://lionpress.wordpress.com/2008/04/26/eeepc-how-to-restore-to-factory-settings/

First I strongly suggest you create a bootable recovery stick along with the recovery partition, if you didn't already do that. This is done via the control panel, recovery. The stick must be a little larger than the recovery partition, and after you have created it, you should store it in a safe place, and it shouldn't be used for anything other. You need it for the case the HD dies.

To do a factory restore press f11 while you turn on the laptop's power. It should get you into the factory restore mode.

Sorry it didn't work. At the end I always go back to the start log on with user prompt asking for the  password.

The F11 key doesn't do not work. I really need to get in and crack this password in order to login. What about if we try Ochcrack? or I used another installation disk with an external DVD installation and delete this partition?

simplest solution is asking your friend  the passwords he created

You have to press the function key at the right time. As I mentioned already, with the recovery USB stick you can boot to it and then restore the system. But you first have to create that stick. If you can't logon to the PC, boot it with the UBCD, it includes an "NT offline password reset and registry" tool. With it you can enable the administrator account:

It's a simple process: start the setup dvd, when he setup screen appears, press shift and F10 and a command prompt will appear.  fire these four lines
diskpart
list disk
select disk x
(x being the number of the disk in question)
clean

This will wipe the whole disk including the bitlocker startup.
Then, continue with setup.

put in another disk drive, and try to reinstall on it
also - if there is a recovery partition, check if you can copy that partition with a partition manager to do a factory restore
