Opening .msg files more than once.

Ok, this doesn't happen on my machine, but it does on my boss's machine, and some other people I know.

In Outlook, save a message to .MSG file format. Open that file - it works fine. Close it, then try to open it again, and sometimes the error "The file may not exist, you may not have permission to open it, or it may be open in another program." comes up. It will only let you re-open the message if you close Outlook and re-open it. A lot of articles but no resolutions. I have disabled all add ins and it doesn't happen but if just one add in (doesn't matter which one) is enabled then the issue reoccurs.

You need to remove the add-in, just disable it will not work.

All of our computers use the add in causing this issue on only this PC. I'm now trying to reinstall Office but I'd love to continue to gather feedback and suggestions.

before reinstall, try to run scanpst.exe to repair the outlook profile.

What if you pause for 5-10 seconds after closing MSG file for the first time?

Sudeep, this solution didn't work. It is a different scenario all together. It looks like this is all because of a specific add-in. Though the testing shows inconsistency, the provider has is as an unwritten known issue. Thank you all for your help. We will continue to work with them.
