"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you have no Anti Virus installed, install and run Microsoft Security Essentials. Do a full scan.
If you have Anti Virus installed, do a full scan with this.

After this, download and run Malwarebytes (malwarebytes.org). Do a full scan with this.

What malware is being removed by the above? Please let us know.

If you think you have a root kit virus (machine crashes), download and run TDSKiller from Kaspersky.com.

When done, restart and assess. Then get a good paid commercial antivirus product and keep it up to date. I use Symantec Endpoint Protection and have zero issues.

For best results, perform your scans in SAFE MODE where possible.

I recommend that you also run a scan with HitmanPro
Sign up for a free 30 day trial. It frequently detects items missed by other scanners.
