"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

HuaMinChen,

The download available in the link you posted just seems to be the  "Discoverer Desktop and Discoverer Administrator".

If you are looking for Discoverer itself, I believe you'll need to get the Middleware from Oracle's EDelivery system on Oracle Support.

Take a look at the following document:
How to Download the Software For Oracle Fusion Middleware Discoverer 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.2.0 or 11.1.1.7) (Doc ID 1626615.1)

DrAtomic,
>>then click on Discoverer?

Doing that takes you to the exact same link provided in the original question.
For the other link, I don't see Discoverer at all.

I'm not DrAtomic but I would check out the online docs:

http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/install.1111/e10421/odd_install.htm#CLINS139
In Oracle Application Server 10g releases, Oracle Discoverer Desktop and Discoverer Administrator were included as part of the Oracle Developer's Suite. In Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g, these products are included with Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer.

Now, Oracle Discoverer Desktop and Discoverer Administrator are available separately with their own installer so that you can install these products more quickly. Oracle WebLogic Server and database schemas are not required for either product.

2.3 Obtaining the Software

Depending on your specific needs, there are multiple places where you can obtain Oracle Fusion Middleware software. For details, refer to the Oracle Fusion Middleware Download, Installation, and Configuration ReadMe FilesOpens a new window page, where you can find the ReadMe file for your specific release.

No idea why.  From a quick scan of Oracle Support looks like it might be because you are running with SELinux is enabled or a Bit version issue?

Is the 32-bit version of Java 7.x Supported on 64-bit RHEL 5.x and 6.x? (Doc ID 1478669.1)

Try disabling SELinux.  Before you ask:  No, I don't know how.  There are several links on the web that can assist you with this.

Personally, I would work directly with the System Administrator before making configuration changes.

It's highly recommended that you fix the library with 'execstack -c <libfile>', or link it with '-z noexecstack'.

I'm not a Linux Admin and do not have access to a Linux machine so I cannot help you with the exact reasons.

That said, look at the message:
The current user is root or has superuser privilege.
The Oracle Universal Installer cannot continue installation.

Looks like you must be the 'oracle' user to run this installer...

Most Oracle products have a pretty detailed installation guide that comes with the product.  I suggest you look for that and follow it.
