further question to question asked yeaterday,

yesterday I was helped by Dave Baldwin.  His helped was GREAT ... I have found a quirk now the url of my initial question.

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Languages/Scripting/ASP/Q_28670867.html#a40769669

The quirk is ... If  a visitor  coming to the test for the first time to not get  the the 'sorry you can't  ...'

the code does work if the visitor has been to the site before. Hope this makes sense.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It sounds like you are setting it before you are checking it if it is finding the entry in the database on the first time.  Probably should be the other way around.  Check the database first and then create and/or update the entry.
