Problem with Internet Explorer 8

I have a client with the following problem:

When requesting a give URL from IE11 the user is able to get a response from the server
When making the same request from IE8  the browser a popup is displayed with the following error message “Unable to open this internet site. The requested site is unavailable”

Any suggestions? Upgrade is not an option as this is a secure environment.

Thanks!

Most likely the website you are trying to access is using TLS with higher encrytion which is not been supported on IE8.

Check what encryption are they using, most likely they are not using SSL2/SSL3 as they are vulenrable and should not be used by anyone now.

There are several solutions to this, any of which may work but you'll need to do some troubleshooting. I would follow the advice on this page:

"Upgrade is not an option as this is a secure environment"  ???

How can a "Secure environment" still use IE8? To me this is everything but secure and a contradiction. A secure environment would have to use the newest IE, or better yet, a more secure web-browser.

Funny as it sounds, it is a  fortune 500 insurance company. As I mentioned, it is a customer that is experiencing this
