POP3 Server for Email

Hey guys,

I have an old Konica Printer here that we use for Scan to Email. We currently use an in house exchange server to route the scans via email, but we are decomming the old server.

Is there another POP3 service provider we can use? The printer only supports using an IP address for hostname, and not a DNS name, so i would need to be able to do that to make it work.

add the iis role of smtp server and configure this server to use your new email provider details and then configure the printer to use this smtp server

POP3 is the wrong server type, you are looking for an SMTP server. What do you have in house? A linux box, web server can have the SMTP component added to it.

Does it have a scan to file/computer/pdf option? that might be a better alternative.

In most cases, your ISP has provided at least 5 email accounts using their servers.  If you have the login and password, you can create a new email address and then use their settings for sending.

Every email provider supports SMTP (the sendmail protocol).

The real question is: what are you trying to achieve? If you are currently using an in-house server you must be a reasonably large company, hence ISPs or Gmail/Yahoo are probably not the right answer. Are you saying you want to stay in-house but don't want to use Exchange? Is this just for scans or for all email? For scans only, use either FTP or scan to file.

just trying to send scans to peoples email from the printer. It's really old so it doesnt have the scan to folder. Its also limited on SSL/TLS options so i cant use gmail or yahoo or modern ones.

What do you have in house?  Iis has an SMTP that can be installed and configured to relay from local IPs.. Using any available hardware I.e. An old workstation, installing Linux and running postfix ( simpler to administer compared to sendmail)

In house is Exchange 2007 w/SBS but we are going to DeCom this server.

We are installing a new Server 2012 R2 Domain Controller, should i install IIS w/STMP on here?

That is one option, what else do you have?
Have a look a www.pmail.com Mercury mail.

Look at pmail.com as an option.  Not sure IIs will be installable on. DC.

i will, but i doubt it supports just an IP address to let us use. We cant use hostnames in the printer for the smtp server field.

arnoldCommented:
The ip is that if the system where it is running, the application whether iis SMTP or any other can be named whatever you want, but will be reachable by the ip of the system
On the DC, you would likely need to adjust the advanced firewall settings to allow SMTP traffic in.

Since I seem to have been ignored, I'll try again; use one of the email addresses included in your ISP's account.
