# Decrease figures by 40% in excel

I am going crazy. I have done this so many times in the past but today have gone blank!

I have a column of retail prices that i have been given. Example below: I have entered by formula to calculate my percentage and the first one is right ie B1. Now when i try filter that formula down only copies the answer of B1 downwards and does not give correct figures. Im sure i need a doller synbol in here somewhere but cant seem to work it out today. Please help.

The formula that works for B1 is =A1*(1-0.4)

Column A    Column B
69.95
84.95
84.95
74.95
89.95
89.95
44.95
42.12

So basically what i need is less 40% on all my column. We use excel 2013 on a windows 7 machine.
