Volume activation services v6 vs VAMT v2
We had issues with the later version and errors on the AD based activation in the newer version of VAMT.
We had to install 2012 DC, which we have done.
Were now not getting errors but cannot see any AD objects.
The server is running 2008.
Do we need to install volume activation services on the DC?
Thanks

No need for a KMS server or overusing MAK keys.

ok. so in our case of using the old version on our 2008 server, if we use the AD version then do i need to install the volume activation service on a 2012 server (in our case the 2012 servers are DCs only)?
Continue using the 2008 server VAMT v6 console or move that to the DC too?

I'd need to k ow a lot more about your environment before I'd start making architectural recommendations. I can answer specific questions, but I don't do network planning on EE. Most experts won't.

one domain
2012 and 2008 DCs
2008 server with VAMT 2 and VAMT 6 on (can now open the ad activation tab in v6 console, but no objects in there)
Assume we need to install the VAMT service on 2012 server?

whats required to get the objects to populate?
The object has to be created. This is done by adding a KMS key
ASKER
So we have imported from old into new (sql) and so there are OEM and MAK keys in there..
How and where can the KMS be added?
