local profile loading slowly

For the last month or so, approx. 8-10 users have reported that their pc's are taking along time when applying settings, (approx. 20 min) Usually it happens when user has shutdown and is starting their pc, but also yesterday user swithed user and it took over 20 minutes to go back to user profile.
I am not using a group policy regarding their logons, and their pc's should be loading a local profile.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Look to see if there are superfluous profiles that can be deleted.

Do you Offline Files enabled for all users as this may be taking time.

Do you run Outlook Exchange with local OST files and are these synchronizing.

Run Disk Cleanup to eliminate temp file. (Disk Cleanup should be in admin tools.)

thanks John, I have removed unnecessary user profiles and disabled offlines files and cleaned up windows/temp folder. This should help a lot.
