Hub transport role and CodeTwo Exchange Rules Pro

we have 4 exchange servers
EX1  has     hub transport  & client access
EX2  has     hub transport  & client access & Mailbox
EX3  has     hub transport  & client access & Mailbox
EX4  has     hub transport  & client access & Mailbox

we bought code two exchange rules pro  to configure some rules and email signature

the question is that we bought license only for one server EX1 which has to act as client access and hub transport

so how can i make sure that the all servers send emails internal and external via EX1 just to make sure all servers use one hub transport which called in my case EX1 . even if the other server still have transport rule installed

where i have to change in EMC to let all servers use the hub transport which installed and configured on EX1 and ignore the other hub transport  servers .

thanks
Christian

You need to install it on all hub servers, read this
http://msexchangeguru.com/2014/06/16/codetwo-exchange-rules-pro/

for licensing part check with vendor, if you need to purchase more license. I don't see you need more license, as I can see it is user based license not server based. So you can install it on all hub servers.

Hi,

Mostly you have to define the send connectors on all the Ex2, Ex3 & Ex4 servers and add the source server as Ex1 on all of the send connectors which you define. Using send connectors you can achieve this

@Manikandan,

But that will be a single point of failure, if Ex1 goes down, whole production will be down. I don't see this as a best option. Secondly, vendor is giving user based license not server based.

Hi sword12,

Can you clarify why you want to route all your traffic via EX1?

Keep in mind that, as Amit pointed out, CodeTwo Exchange Rules Pro should be installed on all Hub Transport servers in your org to work correctly.

All the best,
Adam

Hi Adam

before i post this question

i opened chat with CodeTwo support

and i asked them they told me your license for one server . which i don't understand . because they sale this software per user  . so we don't want to buy this license 4 time . for this i start to think if i can direct all servers to use one server for hub transport role  . it is just because we don't want to pay for 4 servers this make no sense .

anyway i will open chat with them again and ask them why again because we bought the license per user not per server .

This should clear your doubt:
http://www.codetwo.com/userguide/exchange-rules-pro/licensing.htm

How many licenses do I need if I have several servers processing mail (multi-server environment)?

The number of licenses you need to purchase is not linked to the number of Hub Transport / Mailbox Role Servers in your organization. Therefore, you need to purchase one license pack to include all users in your organization who will benefit from the program. Furthermore, as Exchange Rules Pro Service (the program's component responsible for processing mail) must be installed and activated on each Hub Transport / Mailbox Role server, please include the information about the installation in multi-server environment while placing your order in the comment box.
