"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

SQL Server's log pool is an in-memory cache of the transaction log.  So pretty much like a file buffer.
Vitor MontalvãoMSSQL Senior EngineerCommented:
As Scott's said, Log Pool is a memory region for cache the logs before flushing it into the transaction log file.  It enhances performance since is faster to access memory than disk.
SQL data pool must be the usual buffer pool, so it stores table data and indexes.
