control subform from main form

There is a main form “mainF and a subform “subF”
When I open the main form, the main form has a check box. So if I click on that checkbox – the subform columns “listed”, ”coding” hides. If I uncheck that checkbox, then those two sub form columns unhide. How do I do this?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is the Subform a Datasheet subform, based on a Form and not a Query?

If so, you can do this:

Private Sub YourCheckbox_AfterUpdate
    Me.YourSubformCONTROL.Form.Listed.ColumnHidden = Me.YourCheckbox.Checked
    Me.YourSubformCONTROL.Form.Coding.ColumnHidden = Me.YourCheckbox.Checked
End Sub

Note the "YourSubformCONTROL". This is the Name of the Subform CONTROL on the parent form, and may or may not be named the same as the Form you're using as a Subform.

If your subform is based on a query, then create a datasheet form that is based on that query, and use it as a Subform instead of a Query. Queries don't have event models and such, and are difficult to automate.
