Exchange 2010 - On prem: New Remote Move Request to office365 (hybrid)

We are able to migrate any mailbox, where the mail contact user exists under Recipient Configuration > Mail User  > mail contact folder in the Exchange Cloud, and at the same time exist on-prem as a mailbox recipient.

However, any missing mail contacts (cloud side) will not migrate the related mailbox on the on-prem side.
Once we are able to get these to match, we are in good shape.  Any ideas?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That's what you need dirsync for - the corresponding user object needs to be created in the cloud first. Having matching objects is a prerequisite to any cross-forest move, EO included.

Hi Vasil,

Dirsync has been implemented for quite some time and we have been in a hybrid implementation for some time.  Also of notice is those users that were moved over  to the cloud successfully, show up in related distribution groups with an email attribute.  The premise users email attribute under the distribution group view is empty.

Dirsync has been re-installed and synchronized multiple times with delta and full syncs (forced).

The issue has been resolved.

For the on prem accounts that were not displaying the email attribute in their designated distribution group in O365 and thus not able to be migrated, the following was executed:

-In ADUC (on-prem), choose user properties, and the attributes tab.

-clear the MSexchmailguid attribute and apply and ok

-Save attribute to notepad.

- run dirsync

- copy msexchmailguid attribute back to user and apply

- run dirsync again

- user will show up as a migration choice, due to cloud based email attribute being populated

Did a lot of research and worked with VAR and Microsoft.  They could not figure it out either.  I finally was able to isolate.
