excel conditional formatting data bar

Dear experts,
I want to conditional format cells, percentage fill.
I have attached a very simple example, a cell containing 80% I want the cell being 80% filled, it's always 50% filled, no idea why

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hello,

data  bars work a little different to what you expect. They are typically used on a range of cells, not just one cell. The largest value in the range will be filled all the way, the smallest value in a range will have the smallest data bar. The data bar does not express an absolute cell value.

You can use this workaround: in two other cells, enter 0% and 100%. Select these two cells and then Ctrl-click to select the cells where you want to apply the data bars.  Now you can apply the data bars and a value of 80% will fill 80% of the cell.
