Any archiving solution for Outlook 2011 for Mac in Exchange environment?

We have some Mac client who use Outlook 2011. Our Exchange is 2010 SP3. We do have Enterprise CAL. I was told the Archive feature is not available for Outlook 2011 for Mac. If that is true, what can we do?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It is problem from Mac side. Looks like you need to wait from some more time. Or user can view it using OWA. Also remember, Archive mailbox is not accessible from handheld devices. So, before you think of using it, check with your management, if they are okay not to view online archive mailbox via handheld device. As I had to disable and reimport 5000 mailboxes again back to user primary mailbox. I personally not a big fan of this feature. As I used other products like Emailxtender and EV. Which are way better than Exchange online archiving. If you ask my suggestion, you increase mailbox limit and let user use it. Exchange 2010 support 20 GB mailbox without any issue.

What about Outlook 2011 for Mac (Entourage)?

Outlook 2011 for Mac (formerly known as Entourage) and previous versions of the Mac client do not include support for accessing the personal archive. However the Mac Business group is looking at supporting this with a future update but there's no confirmation or time line though.

Yes it's true. I have made some rules, one for each folder (Inbox and Sent Items), which are moving messages older than 365 days to "On My Mac" folders. If you have subfolders in Inbox or Sent Items, the rule will avoid them (not so good, but that's the game we are playing). You can schedule the rules, but my users and I, we are preferring to run the rule manual to know exactly where to find a message (Exchange mailbox or On My Mac). They are running this rule 3-4 times a year.

Unfortunately,  Outlook 2011 has not the same features as Outlook for Windows :(

Best regards!
