Konica Minolta Set Defaults

Trying to determine how to set defaults for our Konica Minolta Bizhub C754, does this need to be done manually at the printer itself or via the print server, or Web Interface?  Settings i need to change are Double Sided Printing, Collate, Change to Grey Scale.  I've set this on the driver on the print server, however when users map to this printer they are getting all the defaults from printer, not how I've set them on driver.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you are printing with a driver (i.e. you're not just sending a text file direct to the printer), the driver will always override the printer settings. Changing the settings on the printer will not affect the driver.

You need to fix things on the server, to make sure the users get the server settings a the default. To start with, have you set Printing Preferences or Printing Defaults on the server? You must set Printing Defaults, via Printer Properties, the Advanced tab, and the Printing Defaults button. Then go to Printing Preferences and check the settings are correct there; if not change them as well.

Also check the user permissions on the server. Make sure the users do not have permission to manage the printer.

The printer got deleted & added back again after this they have all the factory defaults instead of the custom default created for our users.  I have set these setting the way they need to be on the server via the driver & printer preferences, however the users being mapped are not picking up the default created for them rather the factory defaults.  Furthermore when they go in & change the settings in their printer preferences to how they need it, for some reason it reverts back to factory default when the window is closed.

You keep mentioning "printer preferences", but the defaults need to be set in "Printer Defaults", as I explained in my earlier post. You need to set them on the server.

The users do not pick up the printer's factory settings, but rather the Printer Default settings on the server. When the users change printer preferences, it will only stay set for the current session, as that is the difference between printing preferences and printer defaults settings in the driver.
