DirSync to Office 365 and ADFS- Separate DirSync servers needed?

I have Dirsync running with Office 365. However, I need to set ADFS 2.0 to federate with another organization to access resources via SSO. Do a I need separate Dirsync Server for that organization?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

No, you cannot really use dirsync for anything other than O365 anyway. In the generic case, all you need to do is to configure a new Relying party trust based on the information you will be provided. Here's a very detailed article on how the process works, you are more than likely not going to need all that info: http://blogs.technet.com/b/askpfeplat/archive/2015/03/02/adfs-deep-dive-onboarding-applications.aspx

Dirsync and ADFS both have different role to play. Dirsync is designed for office 365. However, ADFS you can use for other application too for single-sign on. You can also use it for office 365. You can setup ADFS farm with two servers and SQL as back-end db. Two proxy server in DMZ with HLB, if you have.

Remember certificate plays key role.
