Retrieving E-mail

how do I retrieve an E-mail after the retention policy has been applied? Is it possible to retrieve it? We have a 30 day retention policy for all our E-mails. Let me know. I need to retrieve an E-mail from April.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This is based on what the retention policy does to the email. If the rule hard deletes the email then it will go into your transport dumpster for 14 days (default). At this time you can restore it back into your mailbox deleted Items folder. If they 14 days have passed, then you will need to recover the email from a backup.

Also, if you are using Single Item Recovery you should be able to restore items from the Purges folder. A side from that you will need to restore from backup.
