Flexibilities with Declare

Hello experts,

I am looking for a flexible approach constructing a TSQL. The below example obviously does not work but i need something similar to that, where I get to substitute Table Name with a parameter:

Declare @test nvarchar(50)
Set @test = 'MyTestTable'

SELECT * FROM @test

Is there known tricks to make this work?

Thank you in advance

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hello,

You can do this with dynamic query.

Declare @test nvarchar(50)
DECLARE @SQL NVARCHAR(500)
Set @test = 'MyTestTable'

SET @SQL = 'SELECT * FROM ' + @test

EXEC (@SQL)
