HyperV checkpoint rescue

Have a client that has 2012 Hyper V and had 2 avhdx files and a vhdx file.  One of the avhdx file was removed (don't know how) but now only has one which is the latest date.  Can I merge that avhdx into the vhdx file and bring the VM back up?  This is a critical down issue so any help quickly would be very much appreciated.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

check the snapshot chain using inspect disk wizard from hyper v manager. if snapshot chain is available, then you can merge the snapshot.else you need to restore it from backup.
