Hello EE,

What is the easiest way SSH or console?  I haven't had to do this, but need to change IP on my ESXi host as we are changing site IP scheme.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I'd choose the console if possible, makes for less mistakes and it's easy, even more so if you have iLO or DRAC or something.

If you have your host in HA cluster set it in maintenance first though... Also, don't forget to update your DNS records.

The supported method is from the Console or vSphere Client.

I would change it from the DCUI, and also remember to change the hostname and domain name, if you are also changing the name of the server.

Once changed, it will restart networking. So if you have VMs on the Host, just be aware, they could be seconds of network disruption.

We will not be changing names just IPs so do I need to worry of host name/domain name?

Correct, just alter the IP Information.
