Is there a way to see what users in use of TS CALS in Win 2008?

We use Per User CAL on Windows 2008 terminal server licensing manager. From the report generated, we can see the TS CALs in use is much bigger than we thought. We are guessing it must include a good number of employees who already no longer working here. So two questions for you:
1. Is there any way to know what users are included in the TS CALs in use?
2. Is there a way to release the licenses used by former employees who have been no longer with the company??

Thanks.

per https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/7a2eafec-af61-48b6-8720-d42e99d7715e/windows-2008-r2-terminal-server-license-check-out

To view Per User RDS CAL usage plesae open RD Licensing Manager (licmgr.exe).  In the left pane please click on the server name, right-click on Reports and choose Create Report -- Per User CAL Usage, next in the right pane right-click on the report you just created, choose Save As, and save it to your desktop.
Please use Notepad or Excel to open the csv file and see which users have been issued CALs, when the CALs expire, total usage, etc.  You should Create and view a new report periodically.

Yes, you can see what users are logged currently using a license: Go to  Administrative Tools, Remote Desktop Services, Remote Desktop Services Manager

All users currently logged in using a license will be listed.

Hope this helps!

And the Per User CAL issued will be expired within 60 days. (You cannot revote Per User CAL even you can with Per Device.)
