Give Mail contact permissions to send on Restricted Distribution Group..

Hi , I have Exchange 2010. I have a query related to Distribution Groups . I have a Distribution Group which have the restriction that only few users can send email on this group. I was just trying to add a mail contact to so that it can send email to that group and I was able to add it.
But I am not sure what is the logic of giving a mail contact such permission. It does not make sense to use in same Domain.
Does it have anything to do in case we do migration? can someone please explain?
thanks

If you want an external user to be able to send email to a distribution group that is restricted this is where a mail contact comes into play.

The mail contact is a reference in Exchange to tell Exchange that this external email address assocaited with this mail contact is allowed to send to this Distribution Group.

Another thing you need to do is make sure that you Remove the checkbox for "Require Authentication". If require Authentication is enabled then No external email can send to this distribution group regardless.
