Connecting two HP 1810-24G switch togeater

Hi Experts.
I currently have 2 X HP 1810-24G switches connected with a cross over cable.
The question is what is the best way of connecting the switches togeater as I am having nextwork issues e.g. slow access to share drives, internet speed issues, which I am not sure if this is the cause or not?
I have redundant ports on both swithes which could be utilised if possible?
Thanks

Are you sure that the issues are related to the two switches?

Make sure that you don't have more than one connection between them to start with.
