Script To Save Results Of A Query in PostgreSQL

Dear Experts,

I'm very new to PostgreSQL and I just want to write a command line script for Windows which is going to connect to PostgreSQL, run a query and save result set in a text file. The format of the file should be CSV if possible.

Could you please help me?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you install pgAdmin on Windows, you will have the command line client, psql.exe, in the bin directory where you installed it.

To run a query and save the result in a file in csv format:
psql -h -U yourUsername -d yourDatabaseName -c "select * from your_table;" -o c:\yourPath\yourfile.csv -A -F , -t
