VSS and Windows Server 2008

Hi Guys,

We have a windows server 2003 and Visual source safe 2005 as a source control. We are planning to do in-place upgrade of server to Windows Server 2008 R2. Does VSS continue to work. Any guidance on what steps needs to be done is very much appreciated.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If this is NOT a DC (no ad, dhcp, and other roles) then the process is simple--just follow the wizard after you install the DVD. More complicated if it is DC (let me know). As far as Visual source safe 2005 2008R2 is not on the system requirement list. You may want to consider moving to Team Foundation (see provided wizard here) https://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/867f310a-db30-4228-bbad-7b9af0089282
