I have a customer that currently has a site-to-site VPN between two offices. Each office has it's own server, but the customer is looking to increase performance for the users. It is an engineering firm, so they have projects stored at both locations, but sometimes need someone to work on a project at one location and then hand it back to a user at the other location. The frustration is the speed over the site-to-site VPN when a user is accessing a project that is stored at another site. I am trying to investigate if BranchCache would be an appropriate solution for this customer if I were to upgrade them to Server 2012 R2.

Does anyone have an experience using BranchCache that can vouch for this solution? Is there a better solution for this type of usage? I have never used it.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I'd probably look at DFS for that. Brachcache, as the name implies, it's more of a cache solution, better suited for days that won't go back the other way.Application MSIs, etc.

If its only data that you are looking to replicate then as above i would say youd be better to impletment a DFS soloution. However if you are looking to enable web content caching, then branchcache would be more suited.
