"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That's really a matter of opinion.  In a case like this, you start using something you like, learn the idiosyncrasies and stick with it.  My goto has been datatables https://www.datatables.net/  There is a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, you can't beat the price.

Does   https://www.datatables.net/  do the following?

1- I could not find some basic function such as showing child tables with the +
2- Additions at the bottom or top of SUMMING values of a column
3- Sizing/ Freezing columns.
4- Searching or forming filtering based on column values

It does all of those but I am not 100% sure about summing.  I have always done that via my server side code.

https://www.datatables.net/examples/

1) https://www.datatables.net/examples/api/row_details.html

2) Never used this http://www.datatables.net/plug-ins/api/sum%28%29

3) I think this is what you mean https://www.datatables.net/extensions/fixedcolumns/

4) Even their most basic example has a search https://www.datatables.net/examples/basic_init/zero_configuration.html

The key is your table has to be well formed or this will not work.   Also any other javascript/jquery errors will prevent this from working (like any other js/jquery plug in).

By well formed tables, make sure to use thead,th for the table header.  I find the best thing is to pick an example, make it work as is on your server, then add in your own data.  On the main examples page, there is a Datasources area on the top right that explains how to use ajax.

Sure, I am not an asp.net dev but this is all client side.  All you really need to do is create a .net page used only as an ajax request, then an html/js page with javascript for the front end  https://www.datatables.net/examples/data_sources/ajax.html

Hi,
just to add. I use datatables.net a lot and I really like it.
And if you have questions: you are welcome to open as much questions as possible - just add the JavaScript and jQuery topics and a lot of experts should be able to help out.

One recommendation:
The most important fact to reproduce issues is to have a valid sample. Please use services like jsBin.com or jsFiddle.net to create your current sample with static data (as there is no server side coding there).
