"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

How would I check? The USB device work fine in my laptop just not in the router.

Which country are you from?

The compatibility of 3G/4G routers are country-specific.

Is it a post-paid or pre-paid SIM in your 3G dongle?

i think the key is to make sure your USB stick is compatible with the 68U. is it one the compatibility list?

Or wait a bit for alternative firmware that supports any USB modem: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/asus/rt-ac68u

You might risk your warranty if you brick your router via third party tools.

The official way it to update the router with latest firmware.

http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68U/HelpDesk_Download/

Reboot the router and insert the 3g USB dongle to see whether the dongle is detected.

If still no go, you need to contact the local service rep of Asus in Dubai to see whether they can offer any help.

where did you buy your router? Can you exchange with another brand like tplink?
Davis McCarnOwnerCommented:
Your router only supports (some) printers and storage devices on the USB ports.  As such, it has no ability to share the 3G dongle, nor to remember the login name and password which the PC software does.  There are routers which support a shared USB 3G dongle and there are devices which will let you setup the 3G connection and then plug into the Internet/Wan port on the ASUS router.
DDWRT might also work; but, as Jackie Man has said, will void your warranty.
