Cell provided already belongs to a grid. This operation is not valid.

Hi,

I'm getting the following error, but can't see why ? it goes into the Sub ok and executes each statement but errors when exiting the Sub

The error is from the line
logError(dgvPopulation.Rows(i).Cells(1), "key object type is not valid")

"Cell provided already belongs to a grid. This operation is not valid."

.
For i As Integer = 0 To dgvPopulation.Rows.Count - 2
.
  logError(dgvPopulation.Rows(i).Cells(1), "key object type is not valid")
.
Next
.
  Private Sub logError(ByRef cell As DataGridViewCell, ByVal sErrorText As String)
    iErrorCount = iErrorCount + 1
    cell.Style.BackColor = Color.Bisque
    cell.ErrorText = sErrorText
  End Sub

To change object's properties you need pass object byval
  Private Sub logError(ByVal cell As DataGridViewCell, ByVal sErrorText As String)
to change object itself - pass it ByRef
