Is there a way to set the column-width of a grid via CSS?

You can use the cascading function of the Cascading Style Sheet. Assuming you want all columns to have the same width within a given table the CSS might look something like this:

table.myClass
{

}

table.myClass tr td
{
    width: 120px;
    max-width: 120px;
    min-width: 120px;
}

Open in new window

Then the HTML markup would look like this:

<table class="myClass">
    <tr>
        <td>Column 1</td>
        <td>Column 2</td>
        <td>Column 3</td>
    </tr>
</table>

Open in new window

Setting the min-width and max-width properties also severely constrains the column widths so they are guaranteed to be 120px in width. The downside to this approach is it is completely non-responsive. I'd normally set columns to have a min-width of a small pixel dimension, ignore the max-width property, and set the width property to a percentage.
