Great Plains (GP) - General Ledger Inquiry

The summary inquiry as well as the detail inquiry in the financial module are not matching what is showing in SmartList. We narrowed it down to the month of December of 2014.  SmartList (Account Transactions) has 48K more in Credits than the summary and detail inquiry.  There are two 48K entries in SmartList (one of the entries was not posted) but only one 48K entry in the GL inquiries.  Why would the smartlist be different from the GL detail and summary inquiry?

Is it possible that the extra entries are from the year end closing? The way GP records the year end close is with an additional transaction that either rolls forward the balance to the next year or closes it out into Retained Earnings. You can identify these transactions in SmartList by looking at the Originating Source, which will be CLOSE or the Source Document, which will be either BBF or P/L. Also for the December 2014 year-end close, if your year end is 12/31 you will see the TRX Date as 12/31/2014, but the Open Year as 2015 and the Document Status as Open.

Our yearend is 4/30.  We found an "unposted" transaction that was causing us to be off.  We didn't pull in the Document Status field which is work, open, or history.  The amount we were off was in "work."  With that being said, does summary and detail inquiry only show Posted transactions whereas Smartlist pulls Posted and Unposted unless you pull in the document status field?  Thanks..
