VB.net Excel Add-in Range Text property not working

I have a cell containing a number eg 55.3 that is formatted to show $55.30
In my VB.net Excel Add-in I gather the cell Text property using the followowing line and it gathers 55.3 when it should gather $55.30

I used Excel VBA to test and Application.Range("A55").Text gathered $55.30

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

if the .text property does not work in vb.net then see if the .numberformat property works. If it does then try
