I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Because that is the only scenario that is supported by Microsoft for accessing CRM externally over the Internet.

Whilst what you have done works for accessing CRM using a web browser you will likely find that apps such as the tablet and mobile apps and the CRM add-in for Outlook from Microsoft and apps from other vendors will not work. And once the vendor knows that you have not configured CRM using IFD you'll likely not get any support.

I don't really care what MS supports.

We don't use apps from other vendors , no tablets , no Outlook CRM plugin.
People just need to use CRM application  in browser typing https:\\....  and providing user name / password.

Any example from real experience what kind of problem I may encounter?

Fair enough, as long as you are aware of the position.

Then as I stated in my first answer you shouldn't have any problems, as long as your scenario of no plug-ins etc doesn't change.
