asked on

event 13576, NtFrs

Hi,

I recently added another dc 2008 R2 on one of our sites, i re-used same old DC name that has been demoted long time ago. after dcpromo this new server, i got error Event 13576 NtFrs pretty much every 24 hours. I can only see this error in this DC, i did not see this error on my other DC.

If i remember correctly, we used to have SHAREPOINTS namespace back in windows 2003 DC, Then i did some research and found below article to remove orphaned dfs namespace, I was able to follow instructions and remove that orphaned namespace. but this error event 13576 is still there every morning. Anyone have idea how to troubleshoot / resolve this issue? thank you,

Sean

Event 13576
Replication of the content set "SHAREPOINTS" has been blocked because use of the File Replication Service for replication of non-SYSVOL content sets has been deprecated. The DFS Replication service is recommended for replication of folders, the SYSVOL share on domain controllers and DFS link targets.

Did you fully remove the old DC before re-adding the new server?

When I say fully remove I mean, full metadata clean up using NTDSUTIL and DNS record removal....

I did dcpromo to removed old windows 2003 DC. it has been a long time, i forgot if i did NTDSUTIL or not, but when i checked ntds and dns record, old server record was already gone.  how do we check if I remove it correctly?
thanks

yes, the sysvol is working just fine, i have not try DFS-R yet. i will try it during this weekend. thanks
DLeaver,
I found out that I did not removed that old server Computer object. I ended up demote new dc, unjoined domain, then go to ADUC to delete the Computer object. then re-joined domain, re-dcpromo with the same name, but now I think the system create a brand new computer object (instead of using old one). that solve my error issue, I no longer see that event error.

thank you,
