FTP to SFTP batch file

I have ta batch file that uploads couple of  file to a server. I have a FTP job that runs fine but because of additional security we are asked to use SFTP to upload the files.

How do i change FTP to sftp ? is the coding different for sftp?  or should I just put SFTP instead of FTP?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

SFTP is an entirely different protocol than plain FTP and requires different client and server programs.  Regular Microsoft FTP does not support SFTP.  Filezilla and CoreFTP clients support SFTP as does WinSCP.  Is the SFTP server already installed on the server?
You need to totally change the batch file to another solution (if your batch file doesn't depend on a third party tool).
If it does depend on a third party tool, read up on it, and see if sftp is supported and how you need to change the commands.
If there's no third party tool involved, now is the time (there isn't much other choice!). Look into WinSCP and the scripting it provides.

Just change thE line that invokes FTP or SFTP. I have a solution using WinSCP here WinSCP with SFTP that has a command like...
open sftp://user2:password@example.com/
