Specified server cannot perform the requested operation

Currently I have a Windows 7 machine and Server 2012 Standard. I am trying to have the windows 7 machine join the domain, but every time I try and join the domain I get the following error message.

The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "asgard":

The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.

I'm able to enter the domain name and my username and password. The computer is on dhcp and can see the server.
The computer can get to google.com but not anywhere else. Any ideas?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi
I'd start by making sure you can lookup the correct records by using nslookup

Items like the gc, Kerberos, domain server, server name, all in the underscore zones like _tcp, _udp,_msdcs
Also make sure your DNS settings are right by using ipconfig /all | more

Can't edit my comment.  Also look for your site name, like default-first-site or other.
