Unable to install IIS on Server 2008 R2

Hello

I am trying to install IIS onto a server 2008 R2 machine, but after running through the installation it fails and states that the server needs to be rebooted.

After each reboot I try again and it fails with the same message.

There are a couple of notifications in Event Viewer but nothing very helpful:

Update IIS-ManagementConsole of package IIS-WebServer-AddOn-Package failed to be turned on. Status: 0x80070bc9.
Update IIS-WMICompatibility of package IIS-WebServer-AddOn-Package failed to be turned on. Status: 0x80070bc9.
Installation failed. A restart is required.

Roles:

Web Server (IIS)
Error: The server needs to be restarted to undo the changes.

Any idea how I get around this?  I need IIS installed in order to use the server as an SCCM DP

Thanks in advance

I would try to boot the server without any extra startup app or 3rd party software running.  Microsoft calls it a clean boot, reference link:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

I would try to uninstall any IIS related components and reboot.

Then retry the install.
