Document level customization in Visual Studio 2013 will not debug/run

I'm trying to build some document level customization in excel using visual studio.  I started a new project with the excel workbook without adding anything to it to ensure I was starting from a blank document.  Whenever I "start" build it to run in the Visual Studio 2013 IDE I get the following read out:

'Excel.exe' (CLR v4.0.30319: DefaultDomain): Loaded 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\assembly\GAC_32\mscorlib\v4.0_4.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089\mscorlib.dll'. Skipped loading symbols. Module is optimized and the debugger option 'Just My Code' is enabled.
The program '[8724] Excel.exe' has exited with code -2146233082 (0x80131506).

I have no idea how to overcome this.

are you using the proper target framework?
HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
Er... how do I check that :)
HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
Ok, I see it targets 4.5... How do I know what to change it to or if this is not the correct one?

HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
Ok.  I see that I may not have 4.5 installed based off the registry.  I guesss I'll install it and try it or step it back to 4.5.
HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
Nevermine, it is installed.  Not sure which framework to use.  Or if it matters.
silemoneCommented:
do you see the dll in your references?l? And what version of Microsoft office are you using?
HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
I tried the following frameworks and nothing worked.  Got the same error.

4.5
4
4 client profile.
4.5.1

It would not let me choose an earlier framework from the list.  Said they were incompatible.
HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
Office 2013.   Will check the references.  I was looking at the application Target Framework.
silemoneCommented:
So here is my thoughts...Each version of MS office uses different connections/dll...that dll may not be compatible for  framework 4.5 or version of MS OFFICE.  This is off the top of my head when working with connection strings...however I am also researching.

Here is my reference manager.  I'm not sure what to make of it.  I do occasioinaly get the workbook to actually open but it says it is missing required assemblies.
silemoneCommented:
I don't see Microsoft Office on there.
HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
So I guess I need to add it? I'm not exactly sure what I need to add.

I did a search and it showed this was already checked:
Office selected?
HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
Ok.  I checked the Microsoft Excel 15.0 Object Library in the COM.  Shown in the picture.  Now I get "application is ambiguous is the namespace 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'... So that's progress maybe!  Any idea on that?C--Users-ttalbott-Desktop-Picture2.png
silemoneCommented:
ok, remove the reference and re-add it.

It also looks like the Microsoft Office 15.0 Object Library was already checked.  Not sure if this matters.  I unchecked the Excel 15.0 library and readded it and got the same problem.
HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
I've tried several different combos of adding and removing those different libraries.  No dice.
HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
Also, I went ahead and tried this with Word and an Excel template.  No matter what I seem to get the same issue.
silemoneCommented:
can you post your code?  I can try in my vs.  Right now I am working within a black box of not knowing too much except the error...btw is that a runtime error or being caught in an exception?  what exactly are you trying to accomplish i.e. what is meant by document level customization in layman's terms and more details for we all can understand what is trying to be accomplished.
HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
I'm just using the default project setup that come's when I select:

File->New->Project->Templates->Visual Basic->Office/SharePoint->Office Add-ins->Excel 2013 Workbook.
HyperBPPAuthor Commented:
Add the zipx extenstion to this file.  Has my project in it.  Is just the default project that is generated.

Ok.  Another note.  This is on a work machine that has all sorts of security patching.  I built an off network machine with minimal install to test and found the document level customizations worked.  So it's some security restriction I would wager blocking me.  Now I just don't know how to figure out what it is :P

Just had to deconflict the references
