Group without owner cannot remove members

Hi,

I have an Exchange 2013 Standard standalone server running 2012 R2.  There is a distribution group that I need to remove a member from.  Doing so via ECP I get an insufficient rights-message.  Only owners can remove members from this group.  The group has no owners.  Needless to say I cannot make myself owner, either.  Also I cannot delete the group.

Anyone?
Thanks,
Ralph

Hi Will,

first:  I should have thought of this myself.
I was able to modify the user list of the group just fine using ADUC.  The rights to this group were granted to the domain administrators group, which was also the owner of the object.
Ich replaced the owner object by the administrator user.

Even though I can confirm that the change I did through ADUC is also shown in Exchange, I still cannot modify the group using ECP and ECP still shows the user list as empty.

What am I missing?

Thanks,
Ralph
Found it.
It was not actually a distribution group but a security group.
Dumb mistake.  But thank you so much for pointing me into the right direction!

Not a problem.

Glad to have helped some!

Will.
