Second SCOM Server

We currently have one SCOM Server in place monitoring about 500+ Servers with various mgmt packs, at what point do you think you should introduce a second SCOM Server?

Thank you.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Use the Ops Managr Sizing Tool

500 Servers can be managed with 1 Ops Mgr, but use the tool for your exact requirements.

If it is scom 2012 then you should add one more for redundancy. If your SCOM is down then you will not be able to do much monitoring.

For agent based monitoring, 500 is a very low number. At 3000 devices a new MGT server becomes a must.
