Learn basic PHP and SQL

Dear Experts,

I want to learn PHP&(my)SQL fundamentals and looking for a quality course (free if possible). I know, i can google easily dozens of different things but instead of "trial&errror" i would rather have some recomendation from you guys.

I'm starting PHP basics in codeacademy (but it's really short and I would appreaciate something with more complex examples). Do you know about some good YT channel, sites or paid || free course which would help me with that?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This can help you find good learning resources, and perhaps more importantly, help you avoid the many outdated and dangerously bad PHP examples that litter the internet.

And, as tsgiannis said, the good thing is that it will guide you to build a simple but working CMS... Because without a good guide, we often fall in the error to reinvent the wheel.

Thank You guys, I'm very glad I asked.

@Ray Paseur: very good article. When you and @Marco  both recommend the same book, I will make an investment and buy it. @tsgiannis thanks for the free resources.
