GUI development for Ubuntu

It seems to me that I would use Nux for GUI development for Ubuntu, and not GTK+ wich is for Gnome. I found several books on GTK+ development, but I have found nothing on Nux. Any suggestions?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

How such thing could work on any other Linux system?

NUX is not a universally available. Choose something platfrom neutral like gtk or qt

Choosing the right framework depends mostly on the scope of the project.

Generally speaking (and if I have any choice) I tend to learn frameworks, that are more cross platform.
I also tend to use a framework for which you have a huge community and for which it is easy to get online help.

If you have the choice to use a different GUI framework, then I would avoid Nux (lack of community support and visibility)
and go for GtK, Qt, Web, . . .
If you're stuck with it, then I apologize for not being able to help.
Apart from the official doc I don't know any other link:

Thank you both dearly for your answers. So I can indeed use GTK+ for GUI development in Ubuntu?

if you intend to ever sell application QT or wxwidgets is better choice. 1st is used by opera and skype, last by vlc player for example. Thats another thing to consider.
gelonidaCommented:
yeah. QT Wxwidgets GTK are all good options for development.
All of them have also bindings to scripting languages like for example python and code will definitely be more portable than using Nux.

You should also find it easier to get help in the net
