Is there any way I can send a message or attachments or photo to a Whatsapp
group via email?  Say like email to   gateway?

Sometimes, I could program email & hold it to be sent at a specific time so

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

First time going to that page, how do I get started & how to scan that logo using my phone?

the only developer information available is via API

Other than that, I can't find anything available.

From the link gheist gave, it says:
"WhatsApp cofounder: Sorry developers, no API for you"
Is this the answer?

Does anyone has a VB or Perl script that could run on a laptop to send the  sample
message below to a Whatsapp group:

Android intent system

Like most social apps on Android, WhatsApp listens to intents to share media and text. Simply create an intent to share text, for example, and WhatsApp will be displayed by the system picker:

Intent sendIntent = new Intent();
sendIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, "This is my text to send.");
It is not possible.  Even within an iOS app you develop for an iPhone that has the What App app installed, the best you do is "wake up" Whats App with some text and other instructions, but Whats App does all the work from that point on.
Say BBM has API that can be called from mobile application, whatsapp has plain NOTHING
