I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Try this:
#footer-nav li{
float: left;
padding: 0 10px 0 0;
margin: 0 10px 0 0;

Works beautifullly,  I just need some spacing between the words and the vertical line!
In my post, I recommended that you add both padding and a margin.  Did you add them both , exactly as I posted, or did you only add the padding and skip the margin?  Try adding all the code I posted.
Your needs should be met if you use the code I posted above.
